Lawrence Kelemen

LAWRENCE KELEMEN is the director of the International Organization of Mussar Vaadim, a network of Torah-based self-development groups in Israel and North America. After receiving his undergraduate degree from UCLA, Professor Kelemen continued with his graduate studies at Harvard University, and later completed 12 years of post-graduate field research in the Middle East. Professor Kelemen brings to his lectures and writings his impressive academic background, as well as a myriad of life experiences, including those of a skiing instructor and radio anchorman. Now an accomplished lecturer and author, Professor Kelemen electrifies parents, teachers, and university students across North and South America, Europe and the Middle with his wit, humor, wisdom and gifts of insight into the essence of living a meaningful life. Professor Kelemen is the author of Permission to Believe (1990), Permission to Receive (1994), and To Kindle a Soul (2001), and he is the translator of the classical text of ancient pedagogical theory, Planting and Building (1999). Lawrence Kelemen is a Professor of Education at Neve Yerushalayim College in Jerusalem, where he also lectures in modern and medieval philosophy. Kelemen is the author of several books including, Permission to Believe (1990) and Permission to Receive (1994), and he is the translator of the classic text of ancient pedagogical theory, Planting and Building (1999). Kelemen's most recent book, To Kindle A Soul, a guide for parents and educators, has been acclaimed world-wide by such noted individuals as Senator Joseph Lieberman, radio host and authors, Dennis Prager and Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Professor of Psychiatry, Abraham J. Twerski, M.D., Professor of Pediatrics, Robert M. Kliegman, MD and CNN anchor, Laurin Sydney. Kelemen received his undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles, and continued with graduate work at Harvard University. During his college years, Kelemen was a professional downhill skiing instructor, and served as the news director and anchorman for a California radio station. Later, he traveled to the Middle East to conduct 12 years of postgraduate field research. Kelemen currently directs 9 self-help groups based on the models he discovered in Jerusalem. His groups serve over 120 men and women. For the last 5 years, Kelemen's weekend seminars have electrified parents, teachers and university students throughout the world. Kelemen has over 2,500 students spread throughout North America, South America, Europe and South Africa. The idea for his latest book, To Kindle a Soul, was conceived during a visit to Detroit in 1999. To Kindle a Soul reaches back 3,300 years to provide ancient wisdom for parents and teachers involved in educating and nurturing children.
