The story of Purim is told in the “Megillas Esther”. These words mean th scroll of Esther but also imply to reveal the hidden. The book of Esther is the only book in the Torah that does not contain the name of God. Yet, our tradition tells us that the holiness of Purim exceeds that of Yom Kippur!!! Many of the mitzvos and customs seem strange, but upon deeper reflection, are fascinating and meaningful as well. This class will explore this mysterious holiday.

Rabbi Shmuel Greenwald

R’ Shmuel Greenwald grew up in the San Fernando Valley of California. After getting a BS degree in accounting and finance, he spent the next eight years in Jerusalem where he received his rabbinical training. He has spent the last 15 years working for Aish HaTorah St Louis where he is currently the Director of Education where he organizes programs, teaches, gives learner’s services. He is a monthly guest on an award winning segment of the Dave Glover radio show. Rabbi Greenwald lives in St Louis with his wife Chana, and his five children.
