In an era typified by so much change in cultural and religious standards it is increasingly difficult to navigate the complex waters of raising your adolescent. After a brief discussion of how recent brain research has changed our understanding of what constitutes “normal” during this transitional period practical strategies for communicating with your adolescent will be discussed. Parenting strategies for overcoming adolescent “parent deafness” will be followed by practical recommendations regarding common behavioral and academic difficulties faced by parents.
